aau.atThe Future Talks “Living with AI” were held on June 11 in Klagenfurt.
Professor Yasuo Deguchi from the Kyoto University gave a keynote speech on ‘From the We-Turn to the Felloswhip model’.
Deguchi presented his “WE-turn” philosophy and the fellowship model of AI. This framework shifts the subject of action, self, and moral value from the individual “I” to the collective “WE,” understood as a multi-agent system encompassing humans, non-human living things, and artifacts. He introduced the concept of “existential AI”: artificial intelligence designed to sustain and maximize “existential value,” which he defines as the fulfillment of an entity’s life scenario or narrative as it moves inexorably from its beginning toward its end. The Fellowship Model of AI represents an entirely different vision how to engage with AI as a society and as socially, not as Master-Slave but as fellows towards a fulfilled life.
This keynote was followed by a round-table discussion with
- Tatsuhiko Inatani | Kyoto University
- Elisabeth Steindl | Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Digital Health and Patient Safety (LBI DHPS) and
- Oskar Gstrein | University Groningen.
Cornelia Stefan chaired the panel discussion.
We thank for a great event and look forward to our next FutureTalk in October, 30 in Klagenfurt with Dr. Nikolaus Forgó from the University of Vienna!
