Exciting boccia tournament at the USI outdoor grounds: Team ‘Kugelsicher’ clinches the title!
Fantastic summer weather, thrilling matches and a great atmosphere: this year’s boccia tournament at the USI outdoor grounds was a resounding success.
The road to the final
A total of 15 teams competed in three groups of five for a place in the knockout stages. The rules were strict but fair: the top two teams in each group, plus the two best third-placed teams, secured their places in the quarter-finals. After some extremely thrilling and hard-fought matches in the final rounds, the two top teams of the day finally emerged.
Thrills right up to the very last turn
The grand final saw Team ‘Zentraler Kugeldienst’ take on Team ‘Kugelsicher’. It turned out to be the close match everyone had expected, played at the very highest level. The outcome was only decided dramatically in the very last end: keeping their cool and with that little bit of luck, the ‘Kugelsicher’ team prevailed and were crowned the deserved tournament champions. Heartfelt congratulations to the champions!
A cosy finale and a big thank you
But it wasn’t just sporting ambition that took centre stage. With glorious weather, good food and drink, the participants and fans took the opportunity to round off the wonderful summer evening together in a relaxed atmosphere.
However, an event of this calibre doesn’t just run itself. A huge thank you goes to Eva FRÜHBAUER for her exemplary and seamless organisation of the tournament!
