The Department of English and American Studies warmly welcomes our ERASMUS+ intern Abu Huraira

Abu Huraira will join the department for one semester and support the faculty in teaching, research, and outreach activities. Find more about him in his short introduction below.

Abu Huraira, Erasmus+ Intern | Department of English and American Studies

Education: MA European Studies, BS International Relations.
Introduction: I am a graduate of the MA in European Studies at Leipzig University through the Arqus Joint Programme, building on a BS in International Relations from Pakistan. My academic training has equipped me to critically analyse European integration, EU global governance, and Europe’s role as a global actor through interdisciplinary theoretical and methodological approaches. My research interests are shaped by a curiosity about how Europe and the Global South construct, deconstruct, and redefine one another. It is within this spirit that I joined the Department of English and American Studies at AAU Klagenfurt as an Erasmus+ intern. The university’s motto “Per aspera ad astra”, the department’s interdisciplinary approach to cultural and literary studies, and Klagenfurt’s unique position between the Alps and the Adriatic – all drew me to this opportunity. During my time here, I hope to deepen my engagement with critical cultural and literary studies while contributing a perspective shaped by movement across continents, traditions, and ways of knowing.

Welcome Abu! We are happy to have you and look forward to working with you this semester!
