‘The University gets cycling’ campaign kicks off again in 2025!

AdobeStock/pressmasterStudents and staff of the University of Klagenfurt are once again called upon to step on the pedals of their bicycles as part of the ‘The University gets cycling’ initiative to replace as many car kilometres as possible with bicycle kilometres. From 20 March to 30 September 2025, kilometres can be collected via the ‘Kärnten radelt’ platform – and the most diligent cyclists can once again win great prizes!

The people with the most cycling kilometres will receive attractive prizes in the internal competition of ‘The University gets cycling’! In addition, the three people with the best final results will be guaranteed a place at the next employee bike service in spring 2026. Information about the initiative and how to take part can be found on the website of ‘The University gets cycling’.
The ‘The University gets cycling’ initiative is being held by the University of Klagenfurt for the fourth time – and students and staff have already achieved a lot together over the past two years: in 2022, the participants cycled a total of around 54,000 kilometres, ensuring that 54 new trees (1 tree for every 1,000 kilometres cycled) were planted as part of the university’s ‘Double the Good’ campaign. In 2023, the final total was 35,673 kilometres and there were various challenges, the winners of which were rewarded with prizes. A top result was achieved again 2024: 38,422.96 kilometres cycled, giving the University of Klagenfurt victory in the ‘Universities/Colleges’ category.
We look forward to a great cycling season and thank all participants for their commitment!
