Guido OffermannsOn 30 June and 1 July 2026, the University of Klagenfurt, together with the Karl Landsteiner Institute for Hospital Organisation, was represented with two workshops at the LSZ Health Congress in Stegersbach. The event brought together researchers and healthcare professionals to exchange perspectives on current developments and challenges in healthcare.
Guido Offermanns and Andrea Schweiger conducted the workshop “Implementing Strategies and Measuring Impact – Using the Example of University Medicine Vienna.” The workshop focused on questions related to the successful implementation of strategic initiatives and the assessment of their effectiveness. Using a monitoring system developed for University Medicine Vienna as an example, the workshop demonstrated how strategic objectives can be transparently tracked over a nine-year reporting period and how progress in implementation can be systematically documented. Together with the participants, challenges related to evaluating strategic measures and sustainably embedding strategic management within organisational development were discussed. The lively exchange particularly highlighted the importance of translating strategic objectives into the operational reality of healthcare organisations.
In the second workshop, Alexandra Kratki and Hubert Jöbstl addressed the topic “AI in Healthcare Organisations: Opportunities and Risks for Patient Safety.” Starting from the guiding question “Would you let an AI diagnose you?”, participants discussed current developments in the field of artificial intelligence as well as its potential and challenges for healthcare delivery. Particular focus was placed on issues of trust, responsibility, and the safe integration of AI-supported applications into clinical decision-making processes.
The LSZ Health Congress provided a valuable platform for exchange between science and practice. The workshops organised by the University of Klagenfurt generated considerable interest and highlighted the importance of evidence-based research for advancing management, strategy, and innovation in healthcare.
