Assah Mwambene is a seasoned Journalist and Public Relations and Communication expert. He served as Head of Government Communication in the Tanzanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs before being appointed Director of Information and Chief Government Spokesperson for Tanzania. In 2008 he served as Communication Liaison Officer in the African Union Backed Operation Democracy in Anjoaun, Comoro. He was also well involved in the SADC Standby brigade, negotiation and mediation in the Tanzania-Malawi border dispute over Lake Nyasa, Madagascar political standoff and Joint Verification Monitoring Mechanism (JVMM) in Burundi in 2009/2010 and ultimately the DDR process for Palipehutu FNL rebel group. He has attended several training including the Command Post Exercise (CPX) from Mozambique Defence College, Capstone 15 training from the Tanzania National Defence College (NDC) and United Nations Advanced Security in the Field. He is a recipient of the Presidential Medal from both the President of Tanzania and the President of Comoro for his involvement in Operation Democracy in Anjouan, Comoro. Currently he is the President of the Public Relations Society of Tanzania (PRST) and East Africa Public Relations Association.
