On November 6th-7th, 2024, the International Institute of Communications (IIC) held its 55th Annual Conference in Bangkok, Thailand. This followed the International Regulators Forum on November 4th-5th, 2024, and the IIC Small Nations Regulators Forum on the afternoon of November 5th, 2024. The Annual Conference brought together senior industry representatives, regulators, academics, and other stakeholders from the telecom, media, and technology sectors to discuss the critical issues facing the industry.
Adinova Fauri, a researcher from Safer Internet Lab (SAIL) at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), joined Gina M. Perini (Somos, Inc.), Melissa Blassingame (Twilio), and Derek John Fernandez (Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission – MCMC) in the breakout session C, where they discussed topics such as fraud and scam mitigation, authentication protocols, branded calling, and more. This session aligned with Adinova’s current research focus on deepfakes for financial fraud.
The event provided an excellent opportunity for stakeholders to learn, network with peers, and build important relationships.
