Get to know our team: Thando Ndita, Digital Public Infrastructure Policy Manager

Continuing our Get to Know the Team series, we are delighted to introduce Ms Thando Ndita, our Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Manager.
Thando is a human rights researcher affiliated with a Hague-based organisation, where her work focuses on bringing attention to human rights issues that often do not make it into mainstream media or policy conversations. Her research has explored areas such as caste-based discrimination, democratic governance, political repression, and access to justice, all grounded in a strong commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices.
Her interests span public international law, international human rights law, international criminal justice and conflict studies. More broadly, she is deeply engaged in questions around technology governance, digital rights, data governance, democratic institutions, and the complex relationship between law, power and social justice.
In her role at the Policy Innovation Lab, Thando leads research on the legal, regulatory, and governance challenges surrounding the implementation of Digital Public Infrastructure in South Africa. Her work focuses on key areas such as data sovereignty, digital identity systems, digital governance and regulatory reform, all with an eye toward ensuring that digital transformation is both equitable and effective.
Outside of her professional life, Thando enjoys hiking and staying active at the gym. More recently, she has taken up the art of baking bread from scratch, and not just any bread. From sourdough to pizza bread to bagels, her weekends now involve equal parts rest and rising dough. As a team, we are very much looking forward to the day this hobby makes its way into the office.
Above all, Thando prides herself on seeing the humanity in others and approaching both her work and life with kindness and this is something that continues to enrich our team and the work we do.
We’re excited to have her on board.
