Karabo is an innovator and entrepreneur whose work sits at the intersection of analytical thinking and real-world problem-solving. A defining chapter in his career was as part of the co-founding team behind Achiever, a platform that enabled bursary providers to identify and support students at risk of academic challenges. He developed a Java-based tool that automated end-to-end internal audit processes for Sanlam, significantly improving operational efficiency. In addition, he played a key role in business development at Botlhale AI, contributing to the growth of its Quality Assurance platform. His journey reflects a strong commitment to building impactful, technology-driven solutions that bridge data, innovation and commercial value.
At the heart of Karabo’s work is a strong interest in leveraging technology to drive commercial growth and measurable outcomes. His current passion projects reflect this, including exploring AI-driven automation to improve margins in infrastructure businesses, as well as investigating innovative solutions to detect underground water leaks, which is an issue responsible for significant water loss each year.
Karabo has recently joined the Policy Innovation Lab at Stellenbosch University as an AI Platform Manager, where he focuses on building solutions that policymakers actively want to use. His work enhances evidence-based decision-making and improves efficiency within policy processes, while also contributing to the development of a sustainable commercial model for the Lab.
Outside of work, Karabo is a jazz enthusiast who enjoys attending live concerts and exploring new places, especially wine farms. He is also a passionate football fan, often found either watching or playing the game. It is safe to say that the World Cup season has been a particularly intense time for him.
