EGIGFA Appoints North Africa Representative

The E-Governance and Internet Governance Foundation for Africa (EGIGFA) is happy to announce the appointment of Mr. Mohamed Farahat as its North Africa Representative. In this role, Mr. Farahat will advance the work of EGIGFA and foster key relationships within the North Africa region.

Mr. Farahat brings to this role over 19 years experience as a legal practitioner, trainer, political, and legal researcher. He has extensive research experience in the areas of internet governance, ICT policy, and digital rights. He has consulted on a myriad of projects with many organizations as well. He was research fellow and later digital rights consultant with the Collaboration on International ICT Policy for East and Southern Africa (CIPESA). He has co-authored several reports in the area of internet law, data protection and digital rights with partners including the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Sussex, African Digital Rights Hub (ADRH) and Paradigm Initiative.

Mr. Farahat is a part of the board of directors of Innovation for Change Middle East and North Africa MENA Hub, Management Advisory Group (MAG) member at North Africa Internet Governance (NAIGF), member of African Digital Rights Network (ADRN), and African ICT Foundation’s Focal Point Representative for Egypt. He also serves as a member of the steering committee of Internet Rights and Principles Coalition (IRPC).Mr. Farahat’s strong network within the North Africa Region will see EGIGFA extend capacity building and research programmes to North Africa, increase our footprints in many countries in North Africa and most importantly get more people actively engaged in internet policy development from the North Africa Region.
