PRESS RELEASEEGIGFA and Internet Society enter into strategic partnershipThe E-Governance and Internet Governance Foundation for Africa (EGIGFA) and the Internet Society (ISOC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to cement a strategic partnership arrangement between the two entities. The partnership will see the two entities deepen education and capacity building efforts in Internet Governance and other courses to equip tomorrow’s internet leaders.Consistent with the agreement reached through the MOU, the two entities will collaborate in the following areas:a) Undertaking and implementing initiatives related to capacity building including training and content production and sharing, specifically related to providing Internet Governance course materials to the Ghana School on Internet Governance (GhanaSIG) and other Internet Governance Schools in the Internet Governance Forum ecosystem;b) Offering other bespoke courses on topics of mutual interest for cohorts and groupings organized by EGIGFA;c) Collaborating on building, empowering, and equipping the leaders of tomorrow’s Internet.Further, EGIGFA and Internet Society shall by the MOU explore other potential areas of collaboration that are consistent with the respective mandates and areas of expertise of the two organizations including conducting research projects, promotion, preparation and organization of workshops, conferences and/or training seminars etc.The MoU between the organizations comes at a time when both organizations seek to roll out programmes that will provide people with critical skills needed to engage meaningfully in the digital age and increase their productivity.The agreement was signed by Jacob Odame-Baiden, Vice President for Legal and Engagement for EGIGFA and Rinalia Abdul Rahim, Senior Vice President, Strategy, Communications, and Engagement for Internet Society.
