Als Forschungsbau hat das Zentrum für Philologie und Digitalität (ZPD) an der Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) die Neukonstituierung der Philologie im Zeitalter von Digitalisierung und Globalisierung zum Ziel. Dabei vereint das Zentrum Geisteswissenschaften, Digital Humanities und Informatik.
Das ZPD soll einen international ausstrahlenden Reflexions- und Kollaborationsraum schaffen, der philologische Methoden mit informatischen Verfahren sowie mit Erschließungs- und Analysetechniken der Digitalen Geisteswissenschaften zusammenführt.

Résumé

Nous sommes ravis d’avoir accueilli la délégation du Conseil national des barreaux et l’équipe du cabinet d’avocats FÉRAL dans notre laboratoire. Nos invités ont eu l’opportunité d’assister à des présentations portant sur notre plateforme de règlement des litiges en ligne, PARLe, le JusticeBot, ainsi que sur notre projet en cours, LLMediator, visant à intégrer l’intelligence artificielle et les grands modèles de langage (Large Language Models) à une plateforme de médiation en ligne.

Diese helfen den Forschern vom Exzellenzcluster ct.qmat – Komplexität und Topologie in Quantenmaterialien der Universitäten Würzburg und Dresden, neue Quanteneffekte zu erforschen – wie zuletzt den sogenannten Spinaron-Effekt.

In your role overseeing talent management and development, have you noticed any trends in technology use across generations? Are the experiences of younger generations, who entered into a hybrid workplace during or after the pandemic, different from those of older generations who had to adjust to remote work?

Most of the technological development we have seen over the past few years is driven by data, whether we are talking about the Internet of Things (IoT), smart cities, or artificial intelligence technology. This puts data not just in the center of attention in terms of how economies are run and society structured, but also calls for the need to design systems that accommodate its constantly-changing nature.

Building trust is a crucial part of technology deployment and adoption, particularly for disruptive technologies. What are some best practices for companies?
Companies can markedly build trust in their disruptive technologies by engaging with early adopters to ideate, test use cases, and develop a better understanding of adoption enablers and inhibitors. This can take the form of a customer advisory council for B2B technologies or an early adopter group for B2C applications.

Why talk about trust? Quite simply because trust is essential to the solidity of social exchanges and to our prosperity. Without trust, or without mechanisms to support or reinforce trust, markets and societies as a whole cannot function. In the past, trust was essentially a human-centered mechanism, enriched by institutions.

The launch of ChatGPT on November 30th, 2022 captured the imagination of business and society in unprecedented ways. Today, Generative AI systems can compose emails, write poetry or lyrics, write and debug computer programs, and crack test papers among other things, harnessing data to produce various types of output in response to prompts. While the upsides defy our imagination, we need to be equally cognizant of the downsides, so we aren’t blindsided by the inherent dangers from its use.  Here are a few examples.

Tech companies have generally failed in protecting people from dangerous narratives fueled by disinformation, hate speech, and a lack of authentication checks. This is the current case with the ongoing war on Gaza, as big tech algorithms attempt to mask deeply-rooted bias on their platforms.

Developing theories and models related to the acceptance of technology has been ongoing since the early 20th century and continues to evolve (Buck 2009; Davis 1993; Neil and Richard 2012). This progression has occurred within various theoretical frameworks, encompassing inter alia cognitive, emotional, motivational and behavioural issues, as well as personal reactions (Hernandez, 2017; Weeger & Gewald, 2013). The concept of technology acceptance delves into how and why individuals or organisations adopt and apply new technologies.

La plateforme JusticeBot est mentionnée dans l’épisode de l’émission de Radio-Canada « La facture » du 24 octobre 2023. JusticeBot est un outil informatique utilisant l’intelligence artificielle (IA) pour simplifier l’accès du public à l’information juridique. Actuellement, son développement est axé sur les conflits entre propriétaires et locataires, mais la méthodologie et les outils seront utilisables dans de nombreux domaines juridiques tels que mentionnés dans l’épisode. JusticeBot a déjà aidé plus de 20 000 Québécois depuis son lancement, il y a deux ans.
