Day 2 Highlights from the 2025 DMRC Summer School

Day two of the 2025 DMRC Summer School was filled with dynamic, hands-on workshops designed to deepen participants’ research skills. The morning sessions featured an in-depth exploration of retrieval-augmented large language models and ethnographic approaches for digital media research, offering practical insights into cutting-edge methodologies.
As the day progressed, DMRC academic experts led a series of creative workshops, including The Image Machine and an Introduction to Practice Mapping, delivered in collaboration with researchers from both the DMRC and the Gen AI Lab.
The afternoon shifted focus to personal and professional development with ‘Connecting with Your Inner Creative Self’, a session designed to help participants craft their unique research persona through creative headshot techniques.
We wrapped up the day with the ever-popular ‘Bake Your Thesis’, where delegates decorated cakes as edible representations of their thesis journeys – a fun and globally loved tradition. #DMRCSS2025
