Chulalongkorn University Announcement Extension of Temporary Closure of Offices, Class Management and General Operations During the Spread of the COVID-19 Outbreak (No. 8)


With reference to the Chulalongkorn University Announcement regarding the Extension of Temporary Closure of Offices, Class Management and General Operations during the Spread of the COVID-19 Outbreak (No.7) dated September 3, 2021 resulting in an extension of the temporary closure of its workplaces in and outside the Bangkok Metropolis until October 3, 2021 and that if there are any changes or if the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation issues a statement in accordance with the announcement of the Bangkok Metropolis Administration, the University would immediately make an announcement accordingly;
Due to the situation concerning the spread of the COVID-19 virus which is now relatively stable though the number of infections remains high as well as the fact that on September 22, 2021 the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation announced its criteria and guidelines for the opening of institutions of higher education permitting them to begin to reopen for the first phase from November, 2021 onwards; to prevent the spread of the virus as well as to lessen the risks of COVID-19 infections for its students and staff members as well as to ensure uninterrupted and efficient operations of the university,
By virtue of Section 27 and Section 32 of the Chulalongkorn University Act B.E. 2551 it is therefore appropriate that the following measures be taken:
Clause 1. To extend the period of closure of the workplaces within and outside the Bangkok Metropolis from October 4, 2021 to October 31, 2021.
Clause 2. Class management and operations during the said period shall continue to be in accordance with the Chulalongkorn University Announcement regarding Extension of Temporary Closure of Offices, Class Management and General Operations during the Spread of the COVID-19 Outbreak (No.5) dated July 10, 2021.
Clause 3. Staff members and students who are directed or permitted to enter the University campus area or to be able to reside in a university lodging must have been received vaccines specified by the government or that which has have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration, whichever one applies, and that staff member or student in question must have been inoculated for a duration of no less than 14 days.
Clause 4. As the situation COVID-19 outbreak is still prevalent in Thailand and a large number of persons have been infected the University expresses its concern for all its students and staff members and urges them to take extra precautions and to refrain from any unnecessary travel. In cases where they begin to show symptoms or suspect they might have contracted COVID-19 they should contact the University so that assistance may be provided accordingly.
This announcement shall be taken into effect from now on and if the situation changes an announcement will be made by the University.
