Arab Summer School for Internet Governance

The Arab World Internet Institute is organizing the first Arab Summer School for Internet Governance during the period from the 28th of June till the 1st of July under the auspices of Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and in collaboration with the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) and the Nile University.
Under the Egyptian preparations for the IGF fourth meeting scheduled in November 2009 in Sharm el Sheikh, The Summer School for Internet Governance is a pioneering idea in the area of Internet awareness.
The Summer School is held periodically in several Western capitals. Cairo will be the first Arab and African capital to host this event.
Participants will be introduced to a number of Internet issues such as:
• History of Internet and the issue of governance
• Domain management
• Multilingualism
• Policies and legislation
• Internet protocols
The Summer School on Internet Governance offers a three Days academic course. The course covers the political, legal, economic, socio-cultural, technological and other dimensions of Internet governance.
The course includes also practical oriented lectures covering the management of critical Internet resources as well as the development of the domain name market. Students will get a “Certificate” for the successful participation in the Summer School.
Faculty members are international experts from the world leading universities and experienced managers from the Internet community who have actively participated in WSIS, WGIG, IGF and ICANN.
