Strong interest, fascinating insights, and engaging conversations: the Alumni Business Tour organised by the University of Klagenfurt’s Alumni Network took participants to Infineon Technologies Austria in Villach on 22 October 2025 – and the event was fully booked well in advance.
Around 30 participants – including students and graduates from a wide range of disciplines – took the opportunity to gain an exclusive look behind the scenes of the high-tech company. During a guided tour, they explored the showroom and some of the most advanced areas of semiconductor production, learning about current developments in the fields of digitalisation, Industry 4.0, and artificial intelligence.
A special highlight: our graduate Michael Tarmastin, Director of Infrastructure Project Management Villach, personally guided the group through the showroom and site, sharing valuable insights into Infineon’s work and ongoing developments.
Equally enriching was the direct exchange with other AAU alumni currently working at Infineon – including Ina Miklau, Mariella Reinwald, Christoph Kielmeier, and Mohamed Salem – who shared personal career stories and answered numerous questions about career entry, company culture, and technical aspects of semiconductor manufacturing.
During the concluding get-together, many participants took the opportunity to deepen conversations and expand their professional network in a relaxed atmosphere.
Conclusion: The Alumni Business Tour was a resounding success – and planning for the next tour is already underway!
