Abstract
The lecture will first present the conditions for agricultural activity and the development of agricultural and rural law in Poland. It will take into account current challenges related to food security, renewable energy sources and the protection of natural resources. It will then present selected elements related to the acquisition of agricultural real estate, the lease of private and state-owned land, and agricultural cooperatives. The second part will present selected elements of EU financing for environmental measures undertaken by agricultural producers, including payments for sustainability, agri-environmental programmes, and eco-schemes. The seminar will also discuss tax instruments that support the development of farms and renewable energy. Agricultural law encompasses civil, administrative, and financial instruments. These instruments are designed to ensure the development of agricultural holdings and food security. The second part of the lecture will focus on environmental law in Poland. The main principles for developing legal protection for environmental elements, particularly land, water and nature, will be outlined. EU and Polish regulations will be referenced. The lecture will present the development of legal conditions and support for renewable energy sources. It is intended as an introduction to a discussion on the challenges of agricultural and environmental law in Canada compared to Polish law.
