Data that empowers: LAC perspectives on data governance

A few weeks ago we had a conversation in the Statistical Conference of the Americas about Data Governance. This brief post is a follow up of some of the concepts and ideas that we shared in the panel.

As citizens and members of the Civil Society, a huge challenge we face in the upcoming years on Data Governance is Transparency. Not transparency as it is commonly known (Governments providing access to their data), but transparency as a holistic approach for the methods behind opening data.

Wo wilde Honigbienen überleben

Bis vor kurzem hielt es die Fachwelt für unwahrscheinlich, dass die Honigbiene in Europa bis heute als Wildtier überlebt hat. Doch inzwischen konnten die Biologen Benjamin Rutschmann und Patrick Kohl von der Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) nachweisen, dass es in der Region Galicien im Nordwesten von Spanien noch wilde Honigbienen gibt.
Wo man ihre Nester finden kann und unter welchen Bedingungen die Bienen dort überleben können, beschreiben die Forscher in Biological Conservation, einer Fachzeitschrift für Naturschutzbiologie.
