„Die Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg ist entsetzt über den unbegründeten militärischen Angriff Russlands gegen die Ukraine. Wir sind zutiefst besorgt über die humanitären, politischen und ökonomischen Folgen, die dieser Angriff für die Ukraine, aber auch für uns alle, hat und noch haben wird. Unsere besondere Sorge gilt den Studierenden, Wissenschaftskolleginnen und -kollegen und Alumni der JMU an den ukrainischen Universitäten.

Dabei wurde eine Reihe von Speicher- und Infrastruktursystemen in Mitleidenschaft gezogen mit der Folge, dass etliche IT-Dienste an der Universität Würzburg seitdem gestört sind – betroffen sind davon zumindest teilweise auch das Telefon- und das Mailsystem.
