The 16th edition of the Global Innovation Index (GII) has launched, revealing the most innovative economies in the world, and providing insights into the current state of global innovation amidst an environment of economic uncertainty.
The global launch event, held in Geneva on September 27th brought together ministers, heads of states, business leaders, academics, and innovation experts from around the world.

On the occasion of the International Day for Universal Access to Information, our Research Associate Mária Žuffová critically examines access to information policies, as assessed by the Media Pluralism Monitor 2023. She argues that governments must go beyond the status quo to reap the benefits of their own access to information policies.

Die Erkundung hat eine Reihe von Lagerräumen zutage gefördert, die zuvor noch nicht dokumentiert worden waren. Diese Entdeckung wirft ein neues Licht auf die Architektur der Pyramide Sahuras, des zweiten Königs der Fünften Dynastie (2400 v. Chr.) und des ersten Königs, der in Abusir bestattet wurde.

Since its inception in 2007, the Global Innovation Index (GII) has evolved into a valuable benchmarking tool that facilitates public-private dialogue and that helps policymakers, business leaders, and other stakeholders to evaluate their innovation progress on an annual basis.

Der Hauptpreis der DGHM ehrt jährlich aktive Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler mit exzellenter und langjähriger Forschungstätigkeit auf dem Gebiet der Hygiene und Mikrobiologie. In diesem Jahr geht die begehrte Auszeichnung an Prof. Cynthia Sharma, seit 2017 Inhaberin des Lehrstuhls für Molekulare Infektionsbiologie II am Institut für Molekulare Infektionsbiologie (IMIB) der Julius-Maximilians-Universität (JMU). Seit 2018 ist sie zudem Sprecherin des Zentrums für Infektionsforschung (ZINF) der Universität Würzburg.

Im vergangenen Juni haben der Freistaat Bayern und die Präsidentinnen und Präsidenten der bayerischen Hochschulen die „Rahmenvereinbarung Hochschulen 2023 bis 2027“ unterzeichnet. Auf dieser Rahmenvereinbarung basiert der Hochschulvertrag, unter den Unipräsident Paul Pauli und Bayerns Wissenschaftsminister Markus Blume am 21. September 2023 in München ihre Unterschriften gesetzt haben.
