Through a historic vote on 21 July 2022, the Wikimedia Foundation was granted accreditation by the United Nations Economic and Social Affairs Council (ECOSOC). The Foundation thanks the cosponsors of the corresponding resolution that was proposed by the United States, Italy, Sweden, and Estonia earlier this week, and all the ECOSOC members who voted for it.

The third annual Rule of Law Report, which was adopted today by the European Commission, defines the Media Pluralism Monitor as “an important source for the Commission’s Rule of Law Reports”. The MPM has been a source of data for the Commission’s report since its first edition in 2020.

For several months I have been monitoring social media feeds looking for views from the war-zone. Not coincidentally, many current soldiers are intellectuals, artists, photographers, music promoters, and cultural activists—people who would never take up arms under other circumstances today are lying in a trench, and observing how this trench changes the communication and logistics of toads and worms.[1]
