The 25th International Marketing Trends Conference took place at ESCP Business School Berlin from January 16 to 17, 2026. This year’s conference, marking the 25th-anniversary, was held under the theme “Marketing and Chaos: Restoring Clarity, Trust, and Meaning in Turbulent Times.” The Research Group Marketing and International Management at the newly founded Department of Management was represented by Sonja Bidmon.

As in previous years, Sonja Bidmon served as a coach for the Doctoral Colloquium on the first day of the conference. In her —alongside professors from Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Spain— coached doctoral students’ group topics related to “Digital aspects of consumption: consumer reviews, branding, and celebrities” were presented and lively discussed. This provided participants with valuable literature recommendations, food for thought, and methodological guidance for their ongoing dissertation projects. The Doctoral Colloquium concluded with a highly informative invited talk by the distinguished Professor Emeritus Peter Leeflang (University of Groningen) on the topic “The publishing process: advice for targeting top journals.”
Friday afternoon offered a unique opportunity to learn about the latest features of SmartPLS4 from Prof. Christian M. Ringle (TUHH Hamburg University of Technology) and Prof. Marko Sarstedt (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München), the founders of PLS-SEM. Both received the IMTC Managerial Impact Award 2025 in Venice.
On the second day of the conference, Sonja Bidmon presented her paper “The different shades of source credibility: An influencing chain of fitspiration imagery on Instagram toward a healthier lifestyle” (co-authors Katrin Lingenhel and Ralf Terlutter) during the “Well-being” session.
IMTC 2025 thus once again provided an opportunity to network internationally and present our department’s latest research findings to an international audience of experts.
