NASA JPL-CaltechRoland Brockers is Professor of Modular Robotic Systems in the Control of Networked Systems group and a researcher at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory / California Institute of Technology in California. On Tuesday, June 10, 2026, he will once again give a lecture for the interested public as part of his teaching stay at the university, this time on the topic “Exploring Venus: Hot Beauty or Earth’s Evil Twin?” (5:00 PM, Lecture Hall 1).

The internet is dominated by this language: English. Nearly half of all websites today are in the language of Shakespeare. However, with AI technologies now enabling seamless writing and translation across multiple languages, could these technologies undermine English’s position as the world’s global and digital lingua franca? 
 

On 29 May 2026, the Carinthian University Championships in beach volleyball took place on the beach volleyball courts at USI Outdoor. Competitions were held in the women’s, men’s and mixed categories.
The women’s competition was won by the pair Marilena PREIML/Tatjana PUSKINA, ahead of Lisa Marie GERERSDORFER/Alina LABACK and Liina RIEMENSCHNEIDER/Gerda JENSCH.

The Award Ceremony for the 4th edition of the IViR “Science Fiction & Information Law” Writing Competition was held on Thursday, 21 May, at CPDP in Brussels. A wonderful occasion to explore this edition’s theme, “The Technologised Future of Truth”, and honour the most valuable contributions.

Jitske is a junior researcher at the Institute for Information Law (IViR). She holds an LL.M. degree in International and European Union Law from Erasmus University Rotterdam and is currently completing her LL.M. degree in Dutch civil law at Radboud University Nijmegen. During her studies, she examined legal approaches to the emergence of online platforms, including perspectives from copyright and competition law.
