AI safety research is increasingly global, yet much of it remains concentrated in a small number of institutions in the US and Europe. On 27 March, the Policy Innovation Lab and AI Safety South Africa co-hosted a workshop at Stellenbosch University to strengthen South Africa’s role in this space. The event brought together researchers to share work on AI safety, cooperative AI and AI governance.

Dans un récent reportage diffusé au Téléjournal de Radio-Canada, Me Nicolas Vermeys, directeur adjoint du Laboratoire, a été interviewé sur les enjeux que représente l’utilisation de l’IA dans le milieu juridique.

Professor Bernhard Nieswandt und sein Team am Institut für Experimentelle Biomedizin des Universitätsklinikums Würzburg (UKW) blicken stolz auf eine langjährige Entwicklung zurück: Aus einer Entdeckung des Thrombozyten-Forschers vor 25 Jahren ist ein Hoffnungsträger für die Therapie von akuten Schlaganfällen geworden.
Dabei handelt es sich um den Hemmstoff EMA601, der einen Signalweg der Blutplättchen äußerst wirksam blockiert: Er verhindert Thrombosen und thrombo-inflammatorische Krankheitsprozesse, ohne die lebensnotwendige Blutgerinnung zu beeinträchtigen.
