Universität schließt bis 6. Januar

Studienberatung, Studierendenkanzlei, Prüfungsamt, Rechenzentrum, Sportzentrum, Sanderring-Uni, Alte Universität und die Institute im Südflügel der Residenz bleiben in dieser Zeit geschlossen. Auch die Uni-Gebäude am Wittelsbacherplatz, am Hubland und auf dem Campus Nord sind zu. Die Regelung gilt außerdem für die Institute am Röntgenring und an der Versbacher Straße.

Carinthian Academic Championships – Floorball 2025

This year, the Carinthian Academic Championships featured an excellent line-up of 10 teams. The teams played in two groups of five. The first and second teams in each group advanced to the semi-finals. The remaining teams played for their respective rankings. The “Finland” group was won by the team “Die Aufgaiger” from Villach. Second place in this group went to the team “Awesome hba.” In the ‘Sweden’ group, the team “HBA Lawyers” celebrated winning the group.

UAM Mixed Volleyball 2025

Once again this year, USI Klagenfurt was able to send a strong team to Innsbruck for the Unisport Austria Championships in mixed volleyball.
A total of two rounds were played in different groups of three. Based on the rankings of the individual teams, this resulted in a “gold” group (winners of each group), a ‘silver’ group (runners-up of each group), and a “bronze” group (third-place finishers of each group). In the “gold” group, places 1-3 were determined, in the ‘silver’ group places 4-6, and in the “bronze” group places 7-9.

Carinthian Academic Championships – Darts 2025

On October 8, 2025, the Carinthian Academic Championships in darts took place at USI Outdoor. Seven teams competed for the title. After just under three hours, the winners were determined. Congratulations to Emir JAHIC and Almir SERDAREVIC on their victory and on winning the title of Carinthian Academic Champion.

KOSIAK Lion 2025

On October 4, 2025, it was that time again. The LC Suetschach gave endurance athletes in a wide variety of categories the opportunity to push themselves to their physical limits. In autumnal temperatures, the winners were determined in the Kosiak Löwe – Mountain Duathlon Individual, Kosiak Löwe – Light Mountain Duathlon Individual, Kosiak Löwe – Mountain Run, Kosiak Löwe – Mountain Duathlon Team, and Kosiak Löwe – Light Mountain Duathlon Team competitions. Once again this year, there was a separate academic classification.

I first met Pedro Burity, a graduate student and researcher at the University of Brasilia, at the Association of internet Research conference, this October in Rio de Janeiro. Pedro researches sociot-echnical arrangements and imaginaries for social movements in Brazil. He works with civic tech, designing digital participatory processes and public services for governments.

Who should decide what you may post online? : Inside the EU’s struggle to regulate AI content moderation

Can you post a deepfake of a politician on Instagram? Or use an artist’s music in your video? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. According to researcher João Pedro Quintais, clearer EU rules for AI-driven content moderation are urgently needed. ‘If we don’t regulate well, what we can post is left to companies that optimise for profit’, he warns. Quintais received a Vidi grant to research how the EU addresses the moderation of problematic content on digital platforms.
