Das diesjährige DigiMeet stand unter dem Titel „Platform Governance & Power: Between control, ethics and societal dynamics“. Im Fokus standen aktuelle Entwicklungen in der Regulierung und Gestaltung digitaler Plattformen – von rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen über gesellschaftliche und politische Implikationen bis hin zu Fragen der technologischen Umsetzung. Insgesamt nahmen rund 80 Forschende aus 16 Ländern teil, darunter Teilnehmende aus elf EU-Staaten sowie Großbritannien, den USA, Indien, Peru und Brasilien.

Wissenschaftliche Unabhängigkeit im digitalen Diskurs

Graduiertenkollegs sind Forschungsprogramme, die sich speziell der Ausbildung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses widmen. Von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) finanziell gefördert dienen sie der strukturierten Ausbildung von Doktorandinnen und Doktoranden. Im Kolleg bearbeiten die Promovierenden gemeinsam verschiedene Aspekte eines übergeordneten Themas.

Im Zentrum standen KI-Tools und aktuelle Ansätze für digitale Lehre sowie erste Ergebnisse des bidt-Forschungsprojekts „Effektivität generativer KI-Tutoren in der Hochschullehre (AIffectiveness)“.

Using the Investopedia simulator and a virtual seed capital of 1 million USD, the students had to compile a portfolio and deal with securities over a period from mid-April to the beginning of September 2025.

Merna Tohfa, a university assistant at the Department of Networked and Embedded Systems, is developing mathematical models and technologies that enable swarms of drones to scatter tree seeds in areas that may be difficult to access.

There is no shortage of reports highlighting Germany’s and Europe’s serious technological dependencies: social networks, cloud services, artificial intelligence – they are lagging in many areas and in danger of being left behind altogether. The lack of digital sovereignty did not arise suddenly, but in times of intensifying geopolitical conflicts, it now appears threatening. Europe is missing economic opportunities and has no influence on the design of the technologies.

The Carinthian regional government has once again honored outstanding scientific work in the field of digitalization. The Department for Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity is delighted to receive two award-winning theses at once.
