New Media Pluralism Monitor side-reports

We have published two new reports written at the request of the CMPF as part of the “Monitoring media pluralism in the digital era” (MPM2020) project.

Pluralism in a hybrid media environment from the user perspective – Beata Klimkiewicz

The MPM country team researcher for Poland, Beata Klimkiewicz, has written a report entitled Pluralism in a Hybrid Media Environment from the User Perspective. The aim of this paper is to provide a review of the literature examining changing patterns of news consumption and exposure and its effect on news pluralism and related policy considerations at the EU and national levels. The paper also attempts to consider relevant measures for an eventual assessment in the revised MPM 2020 methodology.

Second, Mohamed Hamdi and Raphael Kies from the University of Luxembourg have penned The funding of the online press – from its origin to the temporary state subsidies. This report aims to analyse to what extent the introduction of public funding dedicated to the online journalism contributes to reinforce the independence, plurality and the quality of the journalistic offer in Luxembourg.
