Media Pluralism Monitor’s findings presented at the European Parliament

On 12 October 2022 our Director Pier Luigi Parcu and Scientific Coordinator Elda Brogi joined the event “The state of media freedom and pluralism across the EU. From the findings of the Media Pluralism Monitor to the European Media Freedom Act”, held at the European Parliament’s premises in Brussels.

Prof. Parcu and Prof. Brogi presented the findings of the Media Pluralism Monitor 2022, the yearly report published by the Centre for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom that highlights the risks for media pluralism in the EU27 and candidate countries.

Vera Jourová, Vice President of the European Commission for Values and Transparency, opened the event with a speech and took part in the following debate. Besides the organisers, Tom Gibson (EU Representative, Committee to Protect Journalists) and Maria Luisa Stasi (Head of Law and Policy for Digital Markets, ARTICLE19) also contributed to the discussion.

The event was co-organised by the Centre for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom, David Casa (MEP, European People’s Party), Massimiliano Smeriglio (MEP, Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament) and Ramona Strugariu (MEP, Renew Europe Group).
