DMRC Research Skills Workshop – Successful Project Management

DATE:  21 Sept
TIME: 12.30 – 2.00pm
LOCATION: Level 5, X Block.

In this Research Skills workshop, the QUT Project Management Unit will introduce you to the foundations and principles of successful Project Management.
Note that the first half of the workshop is focusing on managing a research project in the QUT context, and is for that reason primarily relevant for DMRC postdocs and investigators. But as always, everyone is welcome to attend.
For the second part of this session, Professor Patrik Wikstrom will chair a panel with Dr Jenny Hou, Dr Ruari Elkington and Dr Kylie Pappalardo to discuss their experience managing successful research projects.
 Topics:

  • Getting started
    • Recording and capturing of information
    • Why the information is required (pipeline financial/SEO & FoR Codes)
    • Where it flows
  • Establishment of Accounts
  • Budget Management
  • Contractual Obligations
  • Variations
  • Project close out
